Artist Ivan Forde with Work of Art Holdings to Unveil “Eternal Seas”

NEW YORK (October 24, 2025) — BIONIC®, a materials engineering company redefining textile innovation, is proud to collaborate with artist Ivan Forde and WOAH (Work of Art Holdings) on Eternal Seas — a new series of works that explore the connection between material, memory, and movement.

“Eternal Seas,” was created in collaboration with Bionic for this year’s British Textile Biennial. The works invite audiences into poetic visions of both fictional and real subterranean worlds. Comprising three site-specific artworks, “Eternal Seas” dialogues with the Haworth Art Gallery’s 18th-century painting ‘Storm Off the Coast’ by French artist Claude-Joseph Vernet, as well as their notable collection of Tiffany glass. Through his signature use of cyanotype and the repurposing of the mid-century glass mosaic technique Gemmail, Forde examines the intricate relationships among people, place, and cloth.

“Eternal Seas” offers profound commentary on the complex relationships between historical manufacturing sites, synthetic textile innovation, and global trade, particularly in cities like New York and Northern England. Through this installation, Forde uses BIONIC high-performance textiles made from recovered marine and coastal plastic, to explore both fictional and real representations of water bodies worldwide. The exhibition features three pieces from his ongoing seascapes series, underscoring the commitment of both Forde and Bionic to merge art with sustainability and advocacy.

BIONIC has built the supply chain of the future, creating waste management infrastructure where none exists and transforming the waste it collects into high-performance materials.
The collaboration with WOAH not only highlights Bionic’s mission driven materials but also aims to inspire community for its ecological restoration.

Earlier this May, WOAH and Bionic Yarn showcased the “Championship Banner” crafted by artist Mickalene Thomas at the first-ever Art Arena™ Summit, held at The Rockaway Hotel, which symbolized the potential of reclaimed materials and stood as a powerful emblem of female empowerment. With this new partnership, they reaffirm their dedication to promoting art that resonates with social and ecological significance.mmitment mirrors our own.
